Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf signed a Memorandum of Agreement and Cooperation with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Women’s Center (TWC) last May 23, 2005.

The agreement states that TWC and MCCID agrees to harmonize their activities and pool their resources to create business opportunities for potential and starting micro entrepreneurs and help sustain existing micro enterprises.

TWC will provide free training programs in vocational and livelihood courses as well as venues, training materials, equipment and training certificates. MCCID on the other hand will organize deaf students to form one batch of trainees for any development programs TWC is offering.

As a starting activity, TESDA Women’s Center conducted a one-week seminar entitled “Business Start Up Course” from May 23 to 27, 2005 at TWC building in Taguig, Metro Manila. 31 deaf students coming from the graduating class attended the activity.

The students were able to learn how to prepare a business plan, do some costing and marketing. Also, students were able to enjoy business games like “Best Game” where students put up their own business and sell their products and “Government and Businessman Game” where the students were able to appreciate the importance of government cooperation in the success of a business.

After the activity, the deaf students received a Certificate of Attendance with a corresponding Special Order Number indicating that they passed the government seminar. Ms. Joy Urmeneta of Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) was the seminar facilitator and speaker.
