MCCID joins 5th Deaf Bible Camp

A record-breaking attendance of nearly 300 deaf youth participated in the five-day 5th Summer Deaf Bible Camp 2009 at Luzon Baptist Camp, Km. 146, Brgy. Lucanin, Mariveles, Bataan from April 27 to May 1. The more than expected turnout was the affair’s first with group from MCCID College having the largest delegation of 32 campers which actively joined in all events.

The event was organized by the Deaf Evangelistic Alliance Foundation, Inc. (DEAF) together with Capitol City Baptist Church Deaf Ministry (CCBCDM) in cooperation with Rev. Shon Cheon Sig of Korean Deaf Mission Society and YoungRak Presbyterian Church of the Deaf . Filipino Deaf Pastors were led by Ptr. Cesar Castro of DEAF and Pampanga Deaf Church, Ptr. Julius Andrada of CCBCDM, Ptr. Jericho Manalo of Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Church of Tarlac City and Ptr. Mamerto Cortez Jr. of Bethsaida Church in Tiaong, Quezon.

The deaf participants were able to enjoy the camp for free courtesy of the Korean Deaf Missions. They only paid for a minimum of P100 registration fee. During the event, the deaf had an exciting experience learning about God’s Word through preaching, singing and dramatizing. They also had a great fun in various games and group activities. The event was culminated with the celebration of its 5th year of serving Christ through the Deaf people.

Five teams were formed; Blue, Red, Orange, Violet and Green. Free t-shirts representing their colors were provided to them for free. Each team had a friendly competition on various activities. For the Song Interpretation Contest, the winning teams were Orange (1st), Green (2nd) and Red (3rd) while for the Bible Story Dramatization Contest, the winners were Red (1st), Green (2nd) Orange (3rd). These activities were held on the second day of the camp program.

On the fourth day, a special feast was prepared by each team celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Deaf Bible Camp. Each group were assigned a long table in which they expressed their creative talents in decorating it using all the fresh fruits that was provided to them as part of the competition. The Green Team won while the Red and Orange teams got the 2nd and third place respectively.

CAP College SFD and MCCID College formed part of the academe that supported this activity.
