With the goal of spreading cheers to children this Yuletide Season, the MCCID College of Technology decided to hold a Share-A-Toy for Disabled Children of Tiaong, Quezon and Indigent Pupils of Buntong Palay Day Care Center in Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.

Each MCCID student donated toys for every child assigned to him/her. The school, for its counterpart, gave fruits, chocolates, candies and other expenses. A total of 110 children received toys and other gifts. Two separate deaf student groups were given the opportunity to give the toys.

Jerome Marzan and Edmond Guzman Jr., MCCID Student President Lucky McGill Paltep, Andrew Calaycay Jr., Owen Domagtoy and Kurt Patrick Galicha went to Tiaong, Quezon in December 21. A special program was held wherein MCCID Tiaong Branch students gave their dance and other numbers. Bethsaida Director Ptr. Ben Hugo and Teacher Loida Alvarez welcomed the group. More than 35 disabled kids received the toys.

For the San Mateo gift-giving program, MCCID Registrar Remedios Esposa, Sir Jojo, Sir Ervin and Owen led the group together with Student Leaders’ Joanna Teves, Jepa Kerena Basilio, Mark Angelo Reyes and the Esposa kids Mariegin, Patricia and Regina Mae distributed the toys and fruits on December 22. Teacher Gina Ballatan of B Palay Day Care Center assisted the group. Over 70 pupils received the toys and fruits.

Ma’am Esposa, School Registrar hoped that this share-a-toy program would be an annual event for MCCID. She thanked and gave blessings to all the students who participated in this activity.

A total of Php 16,290.00 were distributed to representatives of families of deaf students who were victims of recent floods brought about by Typhoon Ondoy during a simple program held last October 27.

Jeiel was represented by his father, Kurt by his mother and Edwin by his mother. The other two failed to attend. However, their donations were given to the deaf students.

A record-breaking attendance of nearly 300 deaf youth participated in the five-day 5th Summer Deaf Bible Camp 2009 at Luzon Baptist Camp, Km. 146, Brgy. Lucanin, Mariveles, Bataan from April 27 to May 1. The more than expected turnout was the affair’s first with group from MCCID College having the largest delegation of 32 campers which actively joined in all events.

The event was organized by the Deaf Evangelistic Alliance Foundation, Inc. (DEAF) together with Capitol City Baptist Church Deaf Ministry (CCBCDM) in cooperation with Rev. Shon Cheon Sig of Korean Deaf Mission Society and YoungRak Presbyterian Church of the Deaf . Filipino Deaf Pastors were led by Ptr. Cesar Castro of DEAF and Pampanga Deaf Church, Ptr. Julius Andrada of CCBCDM, Ptr. Jericho Manalo of Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Church of Tarlac City and Ptr. Mamerto Cortez Jr. of Bethsaida Church in Tiaong, Quezon.

The deaf participants were able to enjoy the camp for free courtesy of the Korean Deaf Missions. They only paid for a minimum of P100 registration fee. During the event, the deaf had an exciting experience learning about God’s Word through preaching, singing and dramatizing. They also had a great fun in various games and group activities. The event was culminated with the celebration of its 5th year of serving Christ through the Deaf people.

Five teams were formed; Blue, Red, Orange, Violet and Green. Free t-shirts representing their colors were provided to them for free. Each team had a friendly competition on various activities. For the Song Interpretation Contest, the winning teams were Orange (1st), Green (2nd) and Red (3rd) while for the Bible Story Dramatization Contest, the winners were Red (1st), Green (2nd) Orange (3rd). These activities were held on the second day of the camp program.

On the fourth day, a special feast was prepared by each team celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Deaf Bible Camp. Each group were assigned a long table in which they expressed their creative talents in decorating it using all the fresh fruits that was provided to them as part of the competition. The Green Team won while the Red and Orange teams got the 2nd and third place respectively.

CAP College SFD and MCCID College formed part of the academe that supported this activity.

A total of 50 MCCID students and faculty participated in the whole-day annual Korean Medical and Dental Mission organized by the Alpha & Omega Deaf Bible Academy last Saturday, June 19, 2008.

Rev. Seung Ho Kang, a Deaf pastor based in the Philippines, again invited his friend and top Korean professional Dr. Tae-Hee Lee to visit the country and conduct free Medical and Dental Mission. He led the team of Korean volunteers as well as Filipino dentist and Deaf church members to administer the activity. The event took place at the church site in Holy Spirit Drive, Don Antonio, Quezon City.

More than 150 deaf adults benefitted from this program, more than double in attendance last year. Free tooth extraction were given by Filipino dentists while vitamins and health medicines made in Korea were distributed to the patients. The short lecture about types of diseases were given by Dr. Tae-Hee in the afternoon.

Ptr. Nehemiah Cortez was one of the assistants. Ms. Bethsaida interprets for the activity and were assisted by Sirs’ Jojo Esposa and Jefferson Cortez. The event was truly successful and deaf beneficiaries hoped that they continue with their service every year.
