MCCID has shown its expertise in the field of computers by demonstrating the Deaf's skills during the monthly meeting of the Business Process Association Philippines (BPA/P) held last August 28, 2006 at Dusit Hotel in Makati City.
Sir Ervin Reyes exhibited his skill in Flash Animation while Dianne Barcelona showed her ability to design web pages using Adobe Dreamweaver and Daryl Pineda drew cartoon characters using Adobe Photoshop. They were part of the skills presentation program and networking event of the meeting. Other booth-presentors include the OneMT Medical Transcription Inc. with Johnvie Dela Cruz, a blind transcriptionist demonstrated the use of JAWS program and the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP) designed the panel board showcasing the ICT achievements of the disabled sector. Sir Noli V. Agcaoili, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NOVA Foundation for the Differently Abled, gave his special message focusing on the benefits of hiring a person with disability.
BPA/P is the largest association of outsourcing companies in the Philippines. It functions as a gateway for the Philippines' outsourcing industry. It promotes the country's core expertise in IT-enabled services. Established in 2004, BPA/P aims to lead the country into becoming a recognized global leader in the ITES/BPO industry and the preferred back office of the world.
Possible job placements and partnerships were hopefully achieved in the fields of web page designing and animation. Animation Council of the Philippines President and Manager of Top Peg Animation and Creative Studio Inc., Ms. Grace Dimaranan might want to tap the potential of deaf animators especially since they are very good in character drawing.
This activity was made possible through the initiative of NOVA Foundation for the Differently Abled, Inc. under the NCWDP Sub-Committee on Information and Communications Technology. MCCID is a member of this sub-committee.
