A total of twenty seven students received the ceremonial diploma during the 9th MCCID Commencement Exercises held at the Town and Country Restaurant last May 31, 2006. The event was attended by the parents, relatives and friends of the graduates. The awarding of plaque of appreciation and complimentary CD was also presented to the representatives from four institutions of persons with disabilities where the graduating class designed websites for free. |

Director Catalina L. Fermin from the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons was the special guest speaker. She accompanied by Ma'am Nelia De Jesus, also from NCWDP. Dir. Fermin emphasized discipline and aiming for a good life for the graduating class. Ms. Dianne A. Barcelona, the lone Valedictorian in the Diploma in Arts and Computer Design Technology course gave her valedictory address. Her medal was donated by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. After the ceremony, the special recognition was given to the institutions for persons with disabilities that agreed to have their websites designed by the graduating class from free. Their working website were hosted temporarily by MCCID Online. They are:
Out of the four institutions that were invited only two attended. A special cash award of P3,000 was given to the group who designed the Southeast Asian Institute for the Deaf website for garnering the highest points. The designer-group was led by Ms. Dianne A. Barcelona, an alumna of SAID. |
