| The Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf held last April 26, 2006 at the DOST-MIRDC Training Room, Bicutan, Taguig City. In a simple MOA signing activity, the contract was signed by Executive Director Rolando T. Villoria representing MIRDC and Training Director Remberto I. Esposa Jr., representing MCCID. |

| The agreement states among others, the holding of free appreciation seminars to be conducted by MIRDC using their training materials and facilities, accepting deaf on-the-job trainees in their center and possible job placements for qualified deaf graduates. The whole day activity was attended by the combined 3rd and 2nd year students of MCCID as well as the faculty and other trainees. In the morning, a seminar on Visual Aids Preparation was conducted with Ms. Jocelyn Dime of MIRDC as resource speaker. She explains about various types of visual materials and equipment that may be used in giving a presentation. |

In the afternoon, a very interesting topic about 5 Systems of Good Housekeeping was conducted with Dr. Danilo N. Pilar, Chief Industry Assistance Division of MIRDC. He explained the Japanese Style of proper office management using the 5 S namely 1. Seiri (sort); 2. Seiton (systematize); 3. Seiso (Sweep); 4. Seiketsu (standardize) and 5. Shitsuke (self discipline). He provided an activity wherein the deaf students turned over all of the things inside their wallets that are not necessary. They were all surprised at how much waste materials occupy spaces in their pockets. |
