MCCID wins 3rd Place in Waste Reuse Tilt

Another Entry wins "Most Attractive" Award

Cruz, 1st year DBT student won third place and "Most Versatile Award" in the On-the-Spot Waste Re-use Contest for his "Gift Box" entry while Dianne A. Barcelona's "Picture Frame with Flower Vase" won the Most Attractive award.

     The contest was held last July 21, 2006 at SM San Lazaro. A total of twenty four persons with disabilities competed in this event sponsored by the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP). The activity was in line with the yearly celebration of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.

     As the 3rd place winner, Gibson receives a P3,000 cash prize and a P5,000 scholarship grant from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). He also received P1,000 for the Most Durable award. Dianne on the other hand received a P1,000 cash prize.

Paz Fernandez and Jose Dela Cruz     Cruz's winning entry was a gift box made from a discarded carton box and old newspapers used in making flower decorations at the top. Dianne also used carton box and old newspapers for her picture frame.

     Other MCCID students who participated in this activity includes Edmond Guzman (Table top decorations using old drift woods and coconut discards), Josephine Laciste (flower vase using old softdrink straws), Ma. Jennilyn Battung (handbag made from used juice tetrapack foils) and Jocel Caraballo (handbag using old newspapers). All of them received P500 for parcitipating in this event. Ma'am Marinela A. Veras, MCCID instructor, was their coach and adviser.
